Someone who ACTIVELY supports members of a UNION

- UNISON Definition -

Affiliated Political Fund - The APF supports the union’s campaign work inside the Labour Party.

- UNISON Definition -

General Political Fund - The general political fund is not affiliated to any political party. The money you pay into the fund is used to support local campaigns, to give a boost to the union’s national political campaigns and pay for political advertising.

- General Definition -

Someone who has paid an appropriate fee to receive all the benifits of membership according to the rules and regulations of the UNION.

- UNISON Definition -

The supreme government of the Union shall be vested in the National Delegate Conference, which shall meet annually for four days at such time and place as the National Executive Council shall determine.

- UNISON Definition -

To take part in political activity unions have to maintain a political fund – and in UNISON you can choose whether to pay a proportion of your subs into the affiliated political fund (Labour Link), the general political fund (GPF), both, or neither.

To support members who are subject to particular discrimination, UNISON has “self-organised groups” – independent structures for women, black members, LGBT and disabled members. Members in these groups lead the union’s work making sure that pay and conditions are equal, stopping prejudice, and campaigning for change in wider society.
